With great pleasure, we invite our colleagues and the ophthalmic industry throughout the world to Sydney for the 2011 Congress of the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology.
The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) hosted the highly-acclaimed International Congress of Ophthalmology (WOC) in Sydney in 2002. APAO 2011 will be just as memorable.
The Congress will be held in the popular Darling Harbour Convention and Exhibition Centre - just minutes from many of Sydney’s world-famous attractions.
The Scientific Program Committee, under Prof Charles McGhee, is assembling an exciting and stimulating scientific program, which will enable both comprehensive ophthalmologists and sub-specialists the opportunity to update their knowledge and skills.
The Congress already has strong support from the global ophthalmic industry, as well as from the professional associations of the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology, the International Council of Ophthalmology, and RANZCO itself.
On behalf of RANZCO, the APAO and the Organising Committee, I encourage our global colleagues and the international ophthalmic industry to join us and to participate and experience our unique Australian hospitality. Your journey to Sydney will be more than worthwhile professionally and personally.

The Congress will be held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre on the waterfront at Darling Harbour, near the heart of the city.
Darling Harbour is one of the world’s most imaginative urban redevelopment projects. The Convention Centre offers first-class facilities to delegates, partners and visitors. It is a short walk from accommodation, restaurants and the central business district of Sydney.
The Convention Centre is accessible by monorail, light rail, road or ferry. Monorail and light rail stations are located right outside the main doors of the venue. Ferries and water taxis provide a memorable journey between the Congress venue and the city's many Harbourside attractions.

Sponsorship
We are focused on matching sponsorship packages to sponsor requirements. An exciting range of sponsorship opportunities has been developed to ensure a successful outcome for all sponsors and exhibitors. APAO Sydney 2011 welcome discussions on tailoring packages to individual needs. Please click on the Sponsorship Prospectus below for further details.
Early confirmation of your Congress sponsorship will ensure a higher level of exposure. An extensive promotional campaign - including advertisements, direct mail campaigns, email broadcasts and web exposure - will be implemented. Take advantage of the opportunity for your company to be recognised as a key sponsor of the Congress - well in advance of the actual dates.
Exhibition
A major element of Congress will be the exhibition of the latest ophthalmic products and services. The daily Congress program will be structured to give participants maximum opportunity to visit the exhibition. All lunches and refreshments will take place in the exhibition area, and a highlight will be the launch of the exhibition at the Welcome Cocktail Reception following the opening of the Congress.
